'Cats Suffer First Setback of 2024 at Tulane

NEW ORLEANS – Northwestern baseball suffered its first setback of the season, falling to Tulane 6-2 on Saturday, February 17 at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
The Green Wave struck first, scoring three runs on two hits, two walks, and two hit by pitches in the top of the first.
After a rocky first inning, Matt McClure settled into the game, throwing three consecutive scoreless innings to keep the deficit at three.
Northwestern got on the board in the top of the sixth when Vince Bianchina doubled home Tyler Ganus, trimming the Green Wave lead to 3-1.Bianchina recorded his first multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 with a single and an RBI double.
Tulane responded with three runs on five hits in the bottom half of the inning, extending its lead to 6-1.
