
‘Cats Travel to New Orleans to Open Season at Tulane

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern baseball is set to open the 2024 season with a three-game series at Tulane. Friday's matchup is set for 6:30 p.m. CT, Saturday's meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT, and Sunday's contest is slated for 1 p.m. CT. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.

Players To Watch
Tyler Ganus, Owen McElfatrick, and Garrett Shearer were all named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List, the conference announced on Wednesday. Shearer is one of just three first-years across the conference to be named to the list.
New Staff
Head Coach Ben Greenspan is set to make his debut on Friday, February 16 in the season opener at Tulane. Greenspan joins the Wildcats after most recently serving as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Michigan during the 2023 season. Former Major League Baseball outfielder Brian Anderson joined the Northwestern baseball staff last season. Tyler Rost was added to the Northwestern baseball staff as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator in September of 2023. He arrives in Evanston after a three-year tenure at Duke, where he served as the director of player development. Ben Keizer joined Northwestern baseball as the pitching coach in September of 2023. His baseball resume included a year of professional play after a decorated collegiate career at Michigan, leading the Wolverines to the Championship Series of the 2019 Men's College World Series.
Roster Breakdown
Northwestern returns 15 letterwinners from last year's team. The Wildcat roster consists of 10 first-years (Zach Selfon, Cole Mascott, Joshua Ramos, Jackson Freeman, Griffin Mills, Will Johnson, Alex Thomas, Colin Dowdle, Garrett Shearer, and Kelly Crittenberger). NU welcomed 8 new Wildcats by way of the transfer portal (Preston Knott, Peter Michael, Amar Tsengeg, Sonny Rao, Lorenzo Rios, Kyle Potthoff, and Justin Doyle).
Series History
Northwestern and Tulane will meet for the first time since 1997. The Green Wave lead the all-time series against the Wildcats 26-15.
