EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern Wildcats are back at Welsh-Ryan Arena Friday as they look to take down the No. 20 Ohio State Buckeyes in their first home game of the new year. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT on B1G+.
The 'Cats will try to bounce back after a loss to Penn State and notch their second conference win of the season against the Buckeyes. It'll be a tall task; Northwestern last beat a ranked team in January of 2022, when they topped then-No. 4 Michigan in overtime at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Ohio State has been ranked in each of their last three meetings with Northwestern and have come out on top of each of them.
While they couldn't get it done against the Lady Lions, the 'Cats had the edge on rebounds, totaling 39 for the game. Casey Harter led the pack at nine on the day, a career high. In her sixth start of the season, Harter was just one point and one rebound away from her first collegiate double-double. Since joining the starting lineup on December 10, Harter has averaged 9.2 points and a team-best 5.7 rebounds per game.
Melannie Daley also continued to impress with her ninth game of the season shooting over 50 percent from the floor – her 55.6 percent in University Park was her best performance in that category since she matched that against Bradley in December. Daley ranks 16th in the nation and third in the Big Ten in shooting percentage among guards.
After finishing up against Ohio State, the Wildcats will continue their January schedule in Madison, where they'll take on Wisconsin next Wednesday. Tip-off from the Kohl Center is set for 6:30 p.m.
