WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Despite trailing by as many as 11 points, Northwestern rallied to force overtime before falling to No. 2 Purdue 105-96 at Mackey Arena on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats (15-6, 6-4 B1G) had five players score in double figures, led by Ty Berry and Boo Buie, who each had 25 points. Buie tacked on 25 points and eight assists and Brooks Barnhizer chipped in as well with 14 points, four assists, three steals and two blocks.

The Wildcats shot 52% from beyond the arc (14-for-27), the second-best three-point field goal percentage by a Boilermaker opponent this season. Northwestern's 38.9% season 3-point percentage would rank fourth in program history for a full-season.

Buie passed Drew Crawford (2010-14, 1,920) to move into second place all-time at Northwestern with 1,936 career points. Buie is now averaging 25.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game in five games against ranked opponents this season.

How It Happened

After falling behind 40-29, Northwestern went on a 7-0 run with 3:15 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Buie, to narrow its deficit to 40-36 before Purdue responded to take a 47-39 lead into halftime.

After intermission, Northwestern came back to even it up at 73-73 before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Barnhizer's layup, to go ahead 78-73 with 2:37 to go in regulation. The Boilermakers evened the game up at 81 apiece with a free throw and sent the game to overtime.
