Nguyen Receives Invitation To Augusta National Women’s Amateur

Junior is fourth Wildcat in program history to be invited to prestigious event
EVANSTON, Ill. (January 10, 2024) – Northwestern University junior Lauryn Nguyen (Seattle, Wash./West Seattle) has received an invitation to play at the Augusta National Women's Amateur in Augusta, Ga., April 3-6.
Nguyen has enjoyed a terrific start to her junior season, posting a team-best 70.42 stroke average across 12 rounds of play. A two-time Big Ten Golfer of the Week selection this past fall, the Seattle, Wash. native has a pair of top-five finishes to her name, highlighted by an 11-under-par 205 (66-70-69) effort that saw her take home individual medalist honors when Northwestern hosted the Windy City Collegiate Classic in early October.
Nguyen, who joins Stephanie Lau (2019), Brooke Riley (2021), and Irene Kim (2022) as one of only four Wildcats to receive an invitational to the prestigious event, is ranked 90th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and was named as one of 20 student-athletes on the Final Fall Watch List for the 2023-24 ANNIKA Award this past November.
Set to be contested for the fifth time since being announced by Augusta National Golf Club Chairman Fred Ridley on April 4, 2018, the Augusta National Women's Amateur features an international field of 72 women amateurs who will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. The opening two rounds of the event will take place at Champions Retreat Golf Club, April 3-4. Following a practice round for the full field at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday, April 5, the leading 30 players and ties from the first two round of action will compete at the renowned course on Sunday, April 6 in the event's final round.
For a second consecutive year, Golf Channel will provide live coverage of the first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women's Amateur from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will broadcast the event's final round from Augusta National Golf Club.
