'Cats Head Downtown for Loyola Lakefront Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - Chicago's Big Ten Team will hit the trail on the shores of Lake Michigan on Friday morning as cross country prepares to run their second 6k of the season at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational. The women's Gold Division race is set to start at 10 a.m.
The meet will feature a pair of local opponents in DePaul and hosts Loyola as well as a handful of Big Ten competitors. Indiana, No. 26 Michigan, No. 30 Ohio State and No. 17 Wisconsin will join the 'Cats as conference foes.
Through three races in 2023, the Wildcats have been paced by Katherine Hessler, Ava Earl and Anna Delgado. Hessler led all Northwestern runners last weekend at the Virginia Invitational, finishing with a 17:04.3 6k - a new personal best. After finishing third overall at the Badger Classic to start her season, Earl also PR'd in Virginia at 17:20.2. Delgado, a first year, has started her collegiate career off strong. She has finished among the top four Northwestern runners at each of the 'Cats' three races so far, including two top-15 overall finishes.
Following Friday's action, Northwestern will take next weekend off before capping off their regular season with the Bradley Pink Classic on October 13.
