Hessler Leads 'Cats at Loyola Lakefront Invitational

CHICAGO, Ill. - Northwestern cross country ran two squads at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Friday in Chicago, placing four runners in the top 30 between the two.
In the Tom Cooney Championship 6k, Katherine Hessler led all Northwestern runners for the second straight week with a 16th overall finish. With a time of 20:12.81, the senior has now set personal records in back-to-back weeks. Kalea Bartolotto ran a strong race as well, finishing with a personal-best 20:27.35 time, good for 26th overall.
As a team, Northwestern ranked eighth out of 16 in the Championship 6k with 191 points and an average finish of 20:41.
In the Gold Division 6k, Rachel Sessa was the first Wildcat across the line. The grad transfer finished 21st with a time of 21:45.58. Right behind her was Deepti Choudhury, who ran a 22nd-place 21:45.58.
The 'Cats finished fifth overall in the Gold Division with 116 team points and an average time of 21:58.
After taking a week off, Northwestern will return to the trail for a final regular season tune-up at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday, October 13.
