EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 19 Northwestern aims to stay unbeaten when it hosts UC Riverside on Friday, Sept. 15 at Martin Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on B1G+.
Last time out, the 'Cats downed UIC 4-1 behind three goals and an assist from Justin Weiss. The Wildcats are unbeaten through six games for the first time since 2012 and are 5-0-1 for the first time since 2007.
Weiss's seven points against UIC ranks tied for the most nationally in a single-game this season. The Syosset native's hat trick marked the first by a Wildcat since Camden Buescher. Including an assist against NIU, Weiss tallied eight points across two games, earning him Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Weiss leads the Big Ten in shots (21), goals (5), shots on goal (11), assists (3), and Points (13). He also ranks fifth nationally in Points (13) and eighth nationally in Goals (5).
Ranking second in the Big Ten with four goals, Rom Brown has delivered for the Wildcats this season. Brown scored both goals, including a 90th minute game-winner in a 2-1 win over NIU. He followed that up by adding to his total with a 34th minute goal to give NU a 2-1 lead in a 4-1 triumph over UIC. The three-goal week earned Brown College Soccer News National Team of the Week Honors.
Reese Mayer notched his first two assists in a Wildcat uniform against UIC.
