Field Hockey Announces 2023 Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. – On the heels of back-to-back national championship appearances, Northwestern field hockey announced its complete 2023 schedule Friday. The Wildcats' 17-game regular season slate includes rematches of the Big Ten Tournament championship game and the NCAA Final Four at Lakeside Field.
From there, Northwestern embarks on a five-game tour of the East Coast to start September. It meets Boston College and Duke in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in College Park, Maryland on September 1 and 3 before traveling to play Vermont away on September 5. The 'Cats close the road trip in Orono, Maine where they take on Maine and Umass on September 8 and 9.
Chicago's Big Ten Team returns home to open the Big Ten Schedule against Indiana at Lakeside Field on September 15 at noon. The Wildcats' eight-game conference schedule includes home games against Michigan on October 1, who Northwestern faced in the Big Ten championship game last season, and Maryland on October 26 to close the season, who Northwestern beat to advance to the national title game in 2022. They will also face Michigan State at home on September 29 at 3 p.m.
The road conference schedule features matchups with Ohio State on September 29, Iowa on October 6, Penn State on October 20 and Rutgers on October 22. All four teams finished 2022 ranked in the Top 25. Penn State advanced to the Final Four last year while Northwestern knocked Iowa out of the tournament for the second straight season.
Other non-conference foes include Penn on September 17, Princeton on September 24 and Ohio on October 15. All three games will be played at Lakeside Field.
Northwestern will also play two road exhibition games at Michigan State on August 15 and Iowa on August 19.
The Big Ten Tournament will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan from November 2-5, and the NCAA Tournament will begin on November 10.

Northwestern is set to face 13 opponents that were ranked in at least one poll last year. The Wildcats open the season at home on August 27 at 11 a.m. against Louisville, which climbed as high as No. 4 in the NFHCA coaches poll in 2022 and finished at No. 12.?????? ???????? ???? ????????.
