EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins announced that Justin Mullins has been added to the Wildcats' roster as a transfer. A standout guard at Denver as a true first-year in 2022-23, Mullins adds another weapon to Northwestern's tenacious defense.
"We are extremely excited to announce that Justin Mullins is coming home to join the Northwestern Basketball family," said Collins. Justin has a huge upside as a player. He's long and athletic with a versatile skillset that should help him develop into an outstanding two-way player in our program. Justin is a high-character, hard working player that will fit in perfectly with the culture that has been created within our team. We believe that he will be an integral part of our program for years to come."

Mullins led the Pioneers and ranked third in the Summit League with 1.47 steals per game last season. He joins a Northwestern team that finished 2022-23 ranked second in the Big Ten in steals per game and third in scoring defense.
A native of Oak Park, Ill., Mullins grew up 12 miles from Welsh-Ryan Arena. He returns home after starting 27 games as a first-year, averaging 9.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Also a sharpshooter, he knocked down 51.8% of his shots from the field and 36.5% from three, the best mark on the team among players with 50 or more 3-point attempts.
The 6-foot-6-inch Mullins scored in double-digits 16 times in 32 games at Denver, including two 20-point performances. He poured in a season-high 27 points against New Orleans in a breakout game in November and 23 against Colorado Christian as part of a seven-game double-digit scoring streak.
He also posted three games with four or more steals. Mullins recorded a career-high six steals against South Dakota in the penultimate game of the regular season.
Mullins played his high school career at Oak Park River Forest. He was named the team MVP and an All-Conference selection during his junior season in 2021-22.
Last season Northwestern finished in second place in the Big Ten Conference standings and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In the offseason head coach Chris Collins signed a contract extension that will keep him in Evanston through 2028.
