"Never Take for Granted" - By Sydney Supple

This season for our team and myself individually has been about never taking a moment for granted. From the smallest of things from the bus rides to all the challenges and excitement that each game day brings. With each weekend that goes by we are doing everything we can to make the most out of every single game, compete to the very end, and learn to better prepare us for what yet is to come.
This past weekend in Iowa we battled all three games. Each game was a fight of back-and-forth responses and I am proud of how we took the series, but there was still some dissatisfaction lingering in our minds as we got back to campus. In response to that, we circled the next time we were going to be able to take the field and poured that feeling of dissatisfaction into motivation to make it count when we were able to compete again.
Our next opportunity to step back on the field was on Wednesday at Illinois where a statement was made loud and clear for all to see. That this team is strong, powerful, confident, badass women, who relentlessly work when no one is watching. So to see it all shine through when the lights and cameras are on is fulfilling. If we don't do something to our standards in a game, you had better believe we will come out guns blazing and make you pay for it the next game. That is a testimony to the experience and maturity that we have throughout our entire team.
On Wednesday, the team set a program record of 6 home runs in a single game.
It's a new program record 6 HRs in a single game for the 'Cats! ??#B1GStats x @NUSBcats pic.twitter.com/K3ho27uCnB

Yes, you read that correctly. The most impressive part was that all six home runs were hit by six different players and each ball was not only barreled up, but crushed out of the park. I have to shout out my girl, Kelsey Nader for hitting her FIRST collegiate home run and our other first-year Kansas Robinson for hitting her second career home run. Truly each home run was special as I will never stop loving every second of seeing my teammates around me succeed. This group is special and one that leaves every drop of hustle and ounce of heart that they have on this field and to this program. This record is a testament to that and I hope someday it gets broken by even more home runs for the Cats'.
This weekend and next Wednesday we are back AT HOME!! This is the second to last Big Ten Series we will be hosting at home so come out to the J for a big party and join in on the excitement of the games. We would love to see anyone and everyone there.
Sincerely,
Sydney Supple
