KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With the 11th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans selected offensive lineman Peter Skoronski of Northwestern University.
The three-year starter at left tackle becomes Northwestern's 185th player ever selected in the draft and the school's highest selection since 1983. Skoronski is the ninth player selected in the top-15 and the 11th player picked in the first round in program history. The latest in a long line of legendary Northwestern offensive tackles, he becomes the the fifth Wildcat OT drafted in the top-15 and the second such selection in the last three years after Rashawn Slater went 13th overall in 2021.
Skoronski is one of the most decorated players in Northwestern history. This past season, he became the first unanimous First Team All-American in program history and 15th consensus All-American. He also became the first Wildcat to be named Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year by the Big Ten.
Skoronski was graded as the top pass-protector in the country by Pro Football Focus, with a 93.0 pass blocking grade after allowing only six pressures on 480 pass-blocking snaps. According to PFF, it marks the best single-season pass-blocking grade recorded over the last two years. The Park Ridge, Illinois native's 79.1 run-blocking grade also ranks fifth among all qualifying Power 5 tackles. Among all offensive lineman at the NFL Combine, Skoronski posted the second best marks in the broad and vertical jumps and the fifth most bench press reps.
A four-star recruit out of Park Ridge, Illinois, Skoronski arrived in Evanston as the fourth highest rated signee in Northwestern history. He anchored Northwestern's offensive line en route to the 2020 Big Ten Championship Game as a true first-year, picking up All-Big Ten Second Team and All-American Freshman Team accolades in the process.
He earned All-Big Ten First Team recognition in each of the next two seasons, and he finished as an Outland Trophy finalist as a junior. Skoronski was also named the PFF Offensive Player of the Week following the season opening win against Nebraska in 2022.
