Series Wrap-Up: 'Cats Take Series at Michigan

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern took two out of three games at Michigan over the weekend. The 'Cats took down the Wolverines 4-3 in an 11-inning battle in Friday's series opener, before taking the series finale 3-0 on Sunday thanks to a seventh-inning rally. Northwestern improved to 30-10 overall and 15-2 in conference play, sitting alone atop the Big Ten standings.
 
Standout Performances
  • Kansas Robinson hit a go-ahead, two-run single in the seventh inning of Sunday's series finale.
    • Robinson is on pace to post the highest OPS (.900) by a NU first-year since Jordyn Rudd's .958 OPS in 2019.
    • Since becoming an every-day starter on March 26th, Robinson has posted a .326 batting average (15-for-46) and 1.084 OPS in 17 games.
  • Angela Zedak hit her team-high ninth home run of the season in Friday's victory.
    • Zedak has hit six home runs in her past 15 games, reaching base in 14 games during that stretch.
  • Lauren Boyd allowed one run over 8.1 innings against Michigan, lowering her season ERA to 1.63 for fourth-best in the conference.
    • Boyd is second in the B1G with 0.74 ERA in conference play, trailing Wisconsin's Maddie Schwartz by only 0.01 points for the lead.
    • She has posted a 1.23 ERA (14 ER) in 79.2 innings since allowing five runs in her first start of the year against Texas.
  • Danielle Williams held the Wolverines to two runs over 9.2 innings over the weekend.
    • Williams has allowed just two runs in her past 21.1 innings since April 9th for a 0.66 ERA while striking out 29 batters.
    • She leads the Big Ten with 10.2 strikeouts per seven innings.
  • Skyler Shellmyer tied the program record of five walks in Friday's game against Michigan, previously set by Garland Cooper on April 23, 2006.
    • Shellmyer has reached base safely in 21 of her past 22 games and has posted a .455 on-base percentage over that stretch (40-for-88).
    • The Iowa native leads the team with 12 multi-hit games this season.
  • Northwestern is the only team in the Big Ten to tally 20+ home runs and 20+ stolen bases in conference play this season.
  • The Wildcats lead the conference with 117 strikeouts against Big Ten opponents.
