'Cats Split Matches in Final Weekend of Regular Season

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern men's tennis split its final two matches of the regular season in its weekend trip to Michigan. After falling 4-1 in Ann Arbor to No. 7 Michigan on Friday, the Wildcats bounced back to down Michigan State 6-1 in East Lansing.
On Friday, the 'Cats fell to the No. 7 Wolverines for the second time this season. Michigan claimed a closely contested doubles point after two of the three matches went into tiebreak. No. 60 Steven Forman defeated No. 11 Andrew Fenty gave the Wildcats their lone singles win of the match.
On Sunday, Northwestern breezed by No. 66 Michigan State 6-1. The 61st ranked duo of Steven Forman and Simen Bratholm claimed a 6-4 win at #1 Doubles before No. 80 Gleb Blekher and Ivan Yatsuk clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at #2 Doubles. Northwestern won five of six singles courts, highlighted by No. 60 Steven Forman's defeat of No. 41 Ozan Baris at #1 Singles. Simen Bratholm, Trice Pickens, Presley Thieneman, and Gleb Blekher all secured singles wins as well.
No. 3-seed Northwestern turns its sights to the Big Ten Tournament where it will face No. 6-seed Wisconsin on Friday, April 28 at 3 p.m. CT on B1G+.
