Northwestern Set to Face Rutgers in Home Weekend Series

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern is back at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park this weekend for a three-game series against Rutgers. Friday's series opener is set for 3 p.m. CT, while first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT on Saturday. The series finale will commence at noon on Sunday, with all three games streamed live on B1G+.

The Wildcats (6-25, 3-6 B1G) are coming off an offensive explosion in Tuesday's 16-5 victory over NIU. The 'Cats tallied nine extra-base hits, including homers from Alex Calarco, Stephen Hrustich, and Kevin Ferrer. Calarco had a career-day at the plate, tallying his first ever four-hit game including nine total bases.
 
In total, NU reached base 26 times on 18 hits, seven walks, and a hit by pitch. It is the fourth time this season Northwestern has tallied 15 or more hits in a single game.
 
Calarco raised his season average to .319 with his four-hit performance, second best on the team. Hrustich ranks 13th in the conference with a .344 season average and 15th with a 1.038 OPS.
 
Rutgers (21-16, 4-5 B1G) has won six of its past seven games, including a series victory over Michigan last weekend. The 'Cats are 16-11 all-time against Rutgers, having last matching up with the Scarlet Knights in 2021.
 
Northwestern is 3-2 at home this season, including a series victory over Illinois two weeks ago.
 
Following the Rutgers series, the 'Cats continue their homestand on Tuesday against Milwaukee.
