EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern Sullivan-Ubben men's basketball head coach Chris Collins announced the signing of Class of 2023 high school prospect Blake Barkley on Wednesday afternoon.

Barkley, a 6-foot-8 forward, hails from Morgantown, W.Va., and played his final season of prep ball at Putnam Science Academy. Barkley is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked the No. 6 player in Connecticut and the No. 51 power forward in the nation. At PSA, he helped secure the Mustangs' fourth National Prep basketball championship and second straight title. Playing on the Adidas 3-Stripes Select Basketball circuit, Barkley averaged 13.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals per game for Wildcats Select. Before his time at Putnam Science Academy, Barkley played at University High School in West Virginia and at Scotland Campus in Pennsylvania.

What Collins is saying about Barkley: "We are excited to announce the signing of Blake Barkley into the Northwestern basketball family. Blake is a versatile, athletic forward that has shown rapid improvement over the past two years. He plays with an edge and a competitive spirit that will fit in perfectly in our program. Blake will bring a strong work ethic, high character and a winning pedigree with him to Evanston, and has the potential to have a very bright future ahead of him."

Barkley will join fellow first-years Jordan Clayton and Parker Strauss on the Wildcats roster for the 2023-24 season.
