
'Cats Sweep Saturday Doubleheader in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 22 Northwestern earned a doubleheader sweep over Northern Kentucky and Louisville on Saturday at the Cardinal Classic, claiming a 5-0 victory over the Norse, followed by a 4-1 victory over the host Cardinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED -- Northern Kentucky
Cami Henry was dealing on Saturday, hurling a four-hit shutout to lead the Wildcats past Northern Kentucky, 5-0. Henry (4-1) went the distance for Northwestern (7-6), giving up four hits, walking none and striking out nine.
In the batter's box, the Wildcats were paced by Jordyn Rudd, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double, a home run, a walk and three RBI. Maeve Nelson put together a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks and an RBI. Grace Nieto also contributed for Northwestern, putting together three hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double.

Ayana Lindsey had two hits in the win over Lousville, helping No. 22 Northwestern knock off Louisville, 4-1.
Lauren Boyd (2-2) started in the circle and picked up the win for Northwestern (8-6). The right-hander went 6.0 innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out four. Danielle Williams also made an impact in the circle for the Wildcats, throwing one scoreless inning while allowing no hits, with one walk and one strikeout en route to her second save on the year.

After the Cardinals cut the lead to 2-1, the 'Cats expanded on their advantage in the sixth inning after Bridget Donahey came across to score the lone run of the inning for Northwestern, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Wildcats.
Northwestern held Louisville scoreless before expanding their lead to 4-1 the following inning. The Wildcats scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Rudd. The score remained 4-1 for the rest of the game, as Northwestern held on for the win.
