Coykendall Scores Six Goals, No. 2 ‘Cats Win 10th Straight

EVANSTON, Ill. – Erin Coykendall scored a career-high six goals as No. 2 Northwestern earned a dominating 20-9 win over Stanford inside Ryan Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats (10-1) won their 10th consecutive game overall and 29th straight home game.
Coykendall posted a game-high nine points (6g, 3a) and has scored 11 goals in the last two games. Madison Taylor continued on her impressive debut season, tying her season-high of five goals. Izzy Scane and Hailey Rhatigan each logged four goals, with Scane's three helpers tying for the team lead. Elle Hansen scored the other Wildcat goal, as the quartet of Coykendall, Taylor, Rhatigan and Scane combined to score 19 of the squad's 20 goals.
Northwestern's defense was stellar once again and held its opponent under 10 goals for the seventh straight game. Stanford (4-5) added five goals in the fourth quarter with the game already decided. Goalie Molly Laliberty posted three saves and six goals allowed, before Francesca Argentieri finished the game's final nine minutes.
After the Cardinal scored the contest's opening goal in one minute and 19 seconds, the 'Cats grabbed an 11-1 first quarter lead in the midst of a 14-0 run. Coykendall tallied three goals and three assists in the first quarter alone, helping NU reach its second-highest scoring quarter of the season (13 goals vs. Youngstown State). The 'Cats outscored Stanford 4-1 in the second to hold a 15-2 halftime lead.

Northwestern took its largest lead of the game of 15 goals with an 18-3 edge on Rhatigan's goal with 8:42 to go in the third quarter.
