‘Cats End Day Two of Big Ten Men’s Championships in Seventh Place

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – After two days of competition at the Big Ten Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, Northwestern sits in seventh place in the team standings with 210 points.
Sophomore Tyler Lu was the highest individual finisher of the day, finishing second in the consolation final of the 200-yard individual medley in a personal best time of 1:44.28.
After becoming the tenth-fastest Wildcat all-time in the preliminaries, Tonahuc Zinn moved up one more spot as he finished fourteenth in 1:45.59.
Graysen Bernard (1:47.05) and Marcus Mok (1:48.21) finished 23rd and 24th, respectively.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Collin Schuster and Ethan Churilla joined the sub-20 club today. Schuster was the first to do so, swimming a 19.85 in this morning's preliminaries. Churilla joined him at night as the pair tied for 18th in 19.95. The duo now ranks 8th and 10th in program history respectively.
The 500-yard freestyle saw Ryan King finish 22nd in 4:25.55, while Alex Mo finished 14th in the men's 1-meter diving with 323.80 points.
Northwestern capped off the session with Lu, Kevin Houseman, Ben Miller and Churilla combining to finish seventh in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:08.84.
Action in Ann Arbor continues tomorrow with preliminaries and finals of the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard individual medley, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke, plus timed finals of the 200-yard freestyle relay.
