Boo Buie Named Big Ten Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. – After posting 19 and 26 points in wins at Ohio State and over No.1 Purdue respectively, Boo Buie was named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. Buie was also named March Madness Player of the Week on Monday morning.
Against Ohio State, Buie posted 19 points, tying Brooks Barnhizer for the team lead. Buie also added a game-high five assists, two rebounds, and a steal in the come-from-behind victory in Columbus, Northwestern's first win in Columbus since Dec. 27, 2016.
Against No. 1 Purdue, Buie posted a game-high 26 points, while adding four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a career-high three blocks, becoming the first Big Ten player with 25+ points, 3+ assists, 3+ steals, and 3+ blocks in a game since Keegan Murray (Iowa) did so against Western Illinois on Dec. 29, 2021. He is the first Big Ten player to do so in a conference game since at least the 2010-11 season.
The senior guard leads all Big Ten players and ranks 22nd nationally in free-throw percentage, knocking down 88% of his foul shots.
Buie's 861 minutes played ranks second in the Big Ten in total minutes played, trailing only Jalen Pickett (Penn State). The Albany, N.Y. native averages 34.4 minutes per game.
Boo Buie and the 'Cats continue their three-game homestand on Wednesday night when they host No. 14 Indiana inside Welsh-Ryan Arena at 8 p.m. CT on BTN.
Across two games, Buie averaged 22.5 points, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocked shots during the week of February 6-12.A no brainer.
