EVANSTON, Ill. – Fresh off one of top single-game performances in school history, Boo Buie has been named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
In the 'Cats win over the Boilermakers, Buie posted 31 points, nine assists and did not commit a turnover, becoming the only high-major player in the country to post 31-plus points, nine-plus assists and no turnovers in a game since at least 2010.
Buie, who also added four rebounds and two steals against Purdue, is the first Big Ten player with 30-plus points and nine-plus assists in a game since Denzel Valentine had 30 points and 13 assists for Michigan State against Indiana on February 14, 2016.
Earlier in the week, the Albany, N.Y. native scored 23 points and added seven assists, two rebounds and one steal in an 89-67 win over Northern Illinois.
Now a three-time Big Ten Player of the Week honoree for his career, Buie is the first Wildcat player to win the award since he did so on February 13, 2023.
Buie and the Wildcats return to action on Sunday, December 10 against Detroit Mercy at 1 p.m. CT inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Buie averaged 27.0 points, 8.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals as Northwestern went 2-0 last week, a stretch highlighted by a 92-88 overtime win over No. 1 Purdue on Friday evening before a sold-out Welsh-Ryan Arena.Who else?@booboo_buie is your @B1GMBBall Player of the Week! ?? pic.twitter.com/oRAkxb0nPe
