Northwestern Falls 82-58 to Georgetown

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern fell behind early and couldn't make up the deficit, dropping an 82-58 game to the Georgetown Hoyas at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday.
The Wildcats (3-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Caileigh Walsh, who had 13 points. Caroline Lau added 11 points and five assists and Hailey Weaver added seven points and three steals.
How It Happened
After falling behind 18-5, Northwestern went on a 6-0 run with 2:57 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Lau, to narrow its deficit to 18-11. Georgetown answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Wildcats down 22-13 entering the second quarter.
The Wildcats continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 51-27 halftime deficit.
Georgetown continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 64-38 advantage before Northwestern went on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a three from Lau, to trim its deficit to 64-45 with 1:32 to go in the third. Georgetown countered and stretched its lead to 67-47 heading into the fourth. Northwestern played well near the basket, scoring 10 of its 20 points in the paint.
Georgetown continued to outscore the Wildcats the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 82-58.
Game Notes
» Maggie Pina's nine points were her most in a Northwestern uniform. She went 3-5 from deep and is now just 26 points away from hitting the 1,000 mark in her career.
