Hubbard Captures Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern junior defensive lineman Aidan Hubbard has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after posting five tackles, 3.0 sacks and 3.0 tackles for loss in the Wildcats' 33-27 win over Maryland.
 
The Cleveland, Ohio product's 3.0 sacks are tied for the single-game high this year by a Big Ten player and tied for the second-most in a single-game in program history.
 
He is the first Wildcat to win Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week since defensive back Cameron Mitchell last season and the first defensive lineman to earn the honor since Joe Gaziano in 2019.
 
Northwestern totaled six sacks against Maryland as a team, its most in a game since posting six against Minnesota on Nov. 18, 2017.
 
The Wildcats (4-4, 2-3 B1G) improved to 4-1 at Ryan Field this season with the win over the Terrapins and battle Iowa at Wrigley Field at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 4.
