Swimming and Diving Claims Three Wins in Home Meet

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Swimming and Diving earned three wins on Saturday, with the men taking down Southern Illinois and the women defeating Southern Illinois and Miami (FL).
Northwestern women's swimming and diving picked up a pair of wins, topping Southern Illinois 197-102 and defeating Miami (FL) 182-113.
Lindsay Ervin claimed two event wins, placing first in the 50 free (22.71 seconds) and winning the 100 free with an NCAA 'B' Qualifying time of 49.18 seconds. Ayla Spitz continued her strong start to the 2023 campaign, earning a win in the 500 free (4:48.28) and winning the 200 free with an NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 1:46.82.
The 'Cats closed the meet out with a strong showing in the 400 free relay, with the team of Ervin, Sydney Smith, Amy Pan, and Spitz placing first with a time of 3:19.08.
The Wildcat women dominated the diving events, claiming the top four spots in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
The Wildcat men improved to 3-0 on the season with a decisive 207-89 dual meet win over Southern Illinois.
Andrew Martin and Tonahuc Zinn led the 'Cats to victory, each winning a pair of events. Martin took the 200 free and the 500 free, while Zinn won the 200 fly and the 200 individual medley. Kevin Houseman also took the 100 breastroke in an NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 53.05 seconds.
The Wildcats also won the 400 free relay, as a team of Martin, Cade Duncan, Tyler Lu, and Ben Forbes finished in 2:56.66.
Ryan Augustine, Adam Cohen, and Alex Mo combined for a sweep of the podium in both one-meter and three-meter diving. Augustine won the one-meter dive and Cohen took the three-meter competition.
