Northwestern Set to Host Minnesota in Regular Season Home Finale

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern welcomes Minnesota to Martin Stadium for its regular season home finale on Thursday. Kickoff from Evanston is set for 7 p.m. CT on B1G+.

Last time out, Northwestern earned a point in a 2-2 draw against #4 Penn State. PSU struck first in the 19th minute, taking a 1-0 lead. In the 24th minute, Penn State was shown a red card for denial of a goal-scoring opportunity, giving the Wildcats a penalty kick and a one-player advantage. Ella Hase converted on the penalty kick, levelling the game on NU's first penalty kick goal of the season. Less than 10 minutes later, Hase scored again for her 10th goal of the season to take a 2-1 lead. PSU equalized in the 51st minute for a 2-2 draw. The Wildcats notched 28 shots against Penn State, the most in the Moynihan era.

The 'Cats have outshot opponents in 11 of 16 games this season. Northwestern has tallied 15+ shots eight times this season and 20+ shots 20+ four times.

The Wildcats rank fourth in the Big Ten and 37th nationally in scoring offense, averaging 2.188 goals per game.

Through 16 games, 10 different Wildcats have tallied a goal, matching the total number of goalscorers through all 23 games last season.

Meg Boade ranks first in the Big Ten and second nationally with 12 assists. Boade's 12 asssists are the most in a single-season in NU history.

Ella Hase's 10 goals lead all Wildcats and ranks third in the Big Ten. Four of Hase's goals have stood up as game-winners, second-most in the Big Ten.

Thursday's matchup will mark the 32nd all-time meeting between Northwestern and Minnesota on the pitch. The Golden Gophers hold a 19-10-2 advantage all-time. Last season, the Wildcats pulled out a 2-1 victory in St. Paul.

The Golden Gophers enter Thursday's contest at 6-5-4 overall and even with NU with a 2-4-2 record in Big Ten play. Sophia Boman paces Minnesota offensively with five goals and five assists on the season. Megan Plaschko handles goalkeeping duties for the Golden Gophers, posting a .769 save percentage and allowing 0.81 goals per game.

Northwestern will wrap up its regular season on Sunday when it travels to Rutgers at 12 p.m. CT on B1G+.
