IOWA CITY, Iowa - Boo Buie put up 20 points, but host Iowa used an impressive second-half showing to pick up an 86-70 win on Tuesday evening inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.

How It Happened

Nick Martinelli connected from outside with just over nine minutes gone to stretch the lead to five, 20-15. After seeing Iowa take a 25-24 edge, Northwestern used a 6-0 spurt, highlighted by an Audige dunk, to reestablish a five-point lead, 30-25.

Northwestern got the job done inside in the first half, scoring 20 of its 39 points in the paint.
Northwestern came out of the gate fast in the second half, with five straight points from Buie staking the 'Cats to a 44-39 lead. With Northwestern clinging to a 56-55 edge following a Brooks Barnhizer bucket with 10:32 remaining in regulation, the Hawkeyes (14-8, 6-5 B1G) retook the lead for good, 57-56, on a Payton Sandfort jumper with 10:09 to go. Iowa went on to slowly expand its lead the rest of the way, with a Sandfort trey pushing the gap to 84-68 at the 2:35 mark as the Hawkeyes cruised to the final horn.
