EVANSTON, Ill. (May 11, 2023) – Northwestern women's tennis head coach Claire Pollard announced the additions of Britany Lau (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon/Brown) and Elisa Van Meeteren (London, England/The Harrodian School/William & Mary) on Thursday. Both graduate transfers, Lau and Van Meeteren will join the Wildcats in the fall and have one season of eligibility remaining.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome Britany and Elisa to the team," Pollard commented. "Their collective experiences will immediately impact our program. Both young ladies have leadership attributes and a high level of character. They also bring laughter and commitment. The future is very bright with the additions of Britany and Elisa."

Arriving in Evanston by way of Brown University, Lau was a three-time All-Ivy League honoree during her stay with the Bears, including a unanimous doubles selection this past season. The Kingston, N.J. native. matched a career-high with 16 wins as part of a junior campaign that saw her qualify for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Super Regionals.Â

This past season, Lau finished 13-8 overall and 3-1 in Ivy League action for a Bears' team that posted an 18-7 overall record.

Van Meeteren enjoyed a standout career at The College of William & Mary, helping the Tribe to back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) titles and two appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The three-time All-CAA selection racked up 43 singles victories and 40 doubles wins during her time at William & Mary.

Out of London, England, Van Meeteren totaled a career-best eight wins in dual play in 2022-23 en route to taking home First Team All-CAA distinction for the first time in her career.

Lau and Van Meeteren join the previously announced pairing of Autumn Rabjohns and Neena Feldman. The quartet will join a group of six returning letterwinners for Pollard in 2023-24, including 2023 All-Big Ten Conference selections Maria Shusharina and Justine Leong.
