Northwestern Shuts Out No. 6 Stanford for Second Straight Ranked Win

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's soccer turned in a complete performance on Thursday night, shutting out No. 6 Stanford 1-0 at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium.
Northwestern improved to 5-1-1 overall with the victory, building on its best start since 2018. The loss was Stanford's (5-1-0) first of the year, after the Cardinal started the season winning five consecutive games, including a win over No. 8 Penn State (2-0).

How it Happened
Northwestern needed just one goal and grabbed a 1-0 lead when Aurea del Carmen drew a penalty and Rowan Lapi recorded her first goal of the season in the 23rd minute on a penalty kick.
