THE COURSE
Evanston Golf Club (Par 70; 6,885 yards) will play host to the Windon for the fourth time, and also has hosted the women's team's signature event, the Windy City Collegiate Classic. The Donald Ross course hosted the Windon in 2011 and 2014, and then again in 2017 when Northwestern won the event for the fifth time in program history.

THE 2021 CLASSIC
Northwestern used a strong final round to finish second at the 2021 Windon in a field that included 12 of the nation's top 50 programs at Lake Shore Country Club. The 'Cats were powered by impressive rounds from Varun Chopra and David Nyfjäll, as both players recorded Top-10 performances at Lake Shore Country Club. Chopra's strong second round 66 (-5) positioned him among the leaders, while Nyfjäll shot a 68 (-3) in the tournament's final round to move up 15 spots on Tuesday morning. It was Northwestern's best finish at the event since winning the 2017 title.

Led by individual medalist Davis Cooper (204; -9, the Kansas Jayhawks won the team title at 18-under, fueled by a remarkable 12-under 272 in the final round.

THE HISTORY
For more than two decades, one of Northwestern's proud golf traditions is hosting the Windon Memorial Classic. The tournament is named after the late Bernie Windon, a Northwestern alumnus who spearheaded the effort to bring major collegiate golf to the Chicagoland area.

The first tournament, known then as the Quintessence Classic, was contested in the fall of 1993 at Kemper Lakes and Royal Melbourne Golf Courses. Kent State won the team title, while Stanford's Casey Martin took home individual honors.

Quintessence is defined as the most perfect or typical example of quality and class. And, to Mr. Windon, that word encompassed everything that represented the Northwestern golf program. That December, Mr. Windon passed away. Shortly thereafter, the tournament was renamed to the Windon Memorial Classic in his honor.
