Wildcats Fall in Three Sets at No. 6 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisc. - The Northwestern volleyball team could not overcome a dynamic Badgers offense Friday on the road and fell to No. 6 Wisconsin in straight sets (18-25, 19-25, 22-25).
The loss dropped Northwestern's record to 11-2 overall and 0-1 in Big Ten action. The Badgers improved to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten.
Temi Thomas-Ailara finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Wildcats attack. NU got nine digs from Megan Miller along with five blocks from Kathryn Randorf to lead them defensively.

» Northwestern attackers were helped by a match-high 30 assists from Alexa Rousseau.
» NU was outhit .281 to .178 by the Badgers.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats fell behind early, dropping a tough first set 25-18. Northwestern trailed by as many as seven points as Wisconsin never surrendered the lead in a set that was tied up three times before the Badgers took control.
SET 2 | A 25-19 second-set loss put Northwestern in a 2-0 deficit in the match. Northwestern trailed by as many as six points as Wisconsin grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that was tied up nine times before the Badgers took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 3 | Northwestern could not win set three and was swept by Wisconsin. The Wildcats dropped the set 25-22 despite a solid showing on the attacking side. Northwestern put together a .379 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set loss.
The Wildcats remain on the road and travel to Illinois at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 24. The match will air on B1G+.
