Lacrosse Announces Additions of Laliberty and Rhatigan and Return of Three Fifth-Years

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern University Combe Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller has announced the addition of graduate transfers Molly Laliberty and Hailey Rhatigan to the roster for 2023. Additionally Amonte Hiller announced that Allie Berkery, Elle Hansen and Izzy Scane will return for their fifth years with the program.
 
 
Laliberty comes to Evanston from Tufts University where she was a two-time IWLCA Division III Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021 and 2022. Last season she helped the Jumbos reach the national championship game for the second consecutive season and ranked sixth nationally posting a .545 save percentage.  In 2021, she logged a save percentage of .596 and a 7.24 goals against average. She received Bachelor's degrees from Tufts in English and psychology.

Rhatigan was sensational at Mercer and last season ranked second in the country scoring 93 goals for a Bears team that won the Big South championship and reached the NCAA Tournament. During her four-year career at Mercer she totaled 228 goals, 70 assists, 298 points and 133 free position shots. The attacker was a two-time All-Southern Conference first team selection (2019, 2021) and grabbed Big South first team all-conference honors last year.
 
Last year, Berkery started all 21 games for the Wildcats and ranked second on the team with 19 caused turnovers. She netted her first career goal in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinal win over Syracuse.
 
Hansen started in 15 games last season and, despite missing six games, finished third on the team in assists (14) and fourth in points (32). The Cohasset, Mass. product posted a career-high four goals in a road victory over Michigan.
 
Scane will return in 2023 after missing all of last season due to injury. She was electric in 2021 and was named Big Ten Attacker of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten Tournament MVP. She scored 98 goals in 2021 and set a Northwestern program single-game record with 10 against Rutgers. As a first-year in 2019, she was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and posted 62 goals.
