Salukis Score Late Touchdowns to Defeat Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. - Southern Illinois scored 17 second half points and defeated Northwestern 31-24 on Saturday afternoon at Ryan Field. Each team is now 1-2 on the season.
Evan Hull totaled 124 yards to lead the Wildcats ground attack and added one touchdown, his fifth straight game finding the end zone. Hull also tacked on 33 receiving yards on eight catches. Cam Porter recorded 40 yards on the ground as Northwestern logged 167 rushing yards.
Ryan Hilinski threw for 213 yards, completing 27-of-43 passes and tossed one touchdown and two interceptions. He also scored a rushing touchdown, the third of his career.
Xander Mueller paced the Northwestern defensive effort, totaling eight tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1.0 sack, and one interception. Aidan Hubbard added 1.0 TFL and 1.0 sack and Ryan Johnson had 1.0 TFL and 1.0 sack in the loss.
