"On This Journey Together" - By Sydney Supple

A season is filled with so many games that it is often challenging to finish one and immediately look forward to what is next. There are certain times when you need to pause as an athlete and a program and appreciate where your feet are and the people who are standing beside you. This weekend was our time to pause and reflect on this incredible journey that we are all on together.

The focus this weekend was winning three games and it was accomplished with a true team effort. Along with that was the goal of embracing the meaning behind this weekend dedicated to the seniors, as well as honoring the players of the program who wore the uniform before us and who are wearing it today. This Saturday was one of the most special nights of the year when our team hosted the Purple Banquet, a time when all of our family, friends, and alumni come together to celebrate the connection we all share: Northwestern softball. Let me tell you from a player's perspective, to walk into a room filled with so many other teammate's families and friends who love you like their own and our alumni who continuously support us, is indescribable. There are times during the season when things can get hard and for a split second you feel you are on your own, but then you look at all of the people around you who are waiting with open arms to take you in and realize you can never be alone in this family.

To my seniors, I hope every one of you knows how much you mean to us. The path you have carved into this program since day one will mark the way for years to come. I am so proud to not only share the field with all of you, but to be a friend along your journey in life because there are many more accomplishments in store for you that I can not wait to be a part of. But until then we have a lot more softball to play!

Kate made a statement before our Saturday game that has stuck with me since, "Go get what you want, don't wish for it or ask for it. Go get it yourself." That is the fuel within our fire right now, we know what we want, we know what we have worked hours for and now it is our time to go get that in Minnesota this upcoming weekend.

Thank you for being on this journey with us.

Sincerely,
Sydney #26
