"Poised Under Pressure" - By Sydney Supple

Remaining poised under pressure is the best way I can describe our team. There is never a moment in the game when you sense our team feeling panicked that we won't come back and win the game. We stay patient and calm knowing our time will come as long as we stay the course. I imagine that watching our games must be like waiting to see what match will start the wildfire. Everyone knows that a fire is coming, it is just when, and by who because every player is capable of being the spark that ignites us.

This weekend was electric: from the home crowd we had, rooftop bombs, and the fight that was shown physically and passionately in our play. For starters, thank you to everyone who came to watch. You packed the stadium and made us feel loved and we were fueled by your energy.

Now let's talk about those games. I am starting to think we should have the title of the Cardiac Cats that was given to football back in 2020 because there were some crazy comeback moments. As a fan, I am sure you were on the edge of your seat all game wondering when we would take the lead, but as players, we trusted our time was coming. All it would take was a few bases, we got that and a few bombs as well.

Hitting a home run on the rooftop is similar to writing your own name into the Hall of Fame in our program, it is rare and special. For Rachel Lewis and Maeve Nelson to become only two of four players to clear the Welsh-Ryan rooftop multiple times, is simply incredible. I think the even cooler part is watching them at practice hit together, share the same bat, and probably spend twenty-plus minutes on the tee every day. When you are able to see how diligent and hard-working people are in the process, watching them succeed is the greatest feeling in the world. I could attest to that with each one of my teammates.

This weekend was a strong series to win over a historically great program in Michigan, but we are only hungry for more. All eyes are faced forward as we take the road on Tuesday at Notre Dame and then head to Ohio State this weekend. See you on the road Cats!

Sincerely,
Sydney Supple #26
