'Cats Drop Opener in College Park

College Park, Md. - Northwestern dropped the first game of their weekend series against #23 Maryland on Friday in a 13-0 loss to their first ranked foe of the 2022 season.
The 'Cats were on the wrong side of a perfect game from Maryland starter Ryan Ramsey, as the offense couldn't get going against the Terrapins. Sean Sullivan made his 11th start of the season on Friday night, striking out three in 2.2 innings of work, before turning the ball over to David Utagawa and Jacob Scharm.
The loss was just the second time Northwestern has been shut out this season. The 'Cats will turn to Michael Farinelli on Saturday as Northwestern looks to even up their penultimate Big Ten road series of the season.
