EVANSTON, Ill. - Postseason play is on deck for the Northwestern men's basketball team as it heads to the Big Ten Tournament hosted at Indianapolis' Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The No. 12-seed Wildcats open tourney play in the first round against No. 13-seed Nebraska at 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 9. BTN will air the game with Brandon Gaudin (play-by-play), Robbie Hummel (analyst) and Andy Katz (reporter) on the call. Voice of the Wildcats Dave Eanet (play-by-play) and Billy McKinney (analyst) have the call on AM 720 WGN Radio.

Northwestern (14-15, 7-13 B1G) closed out the regular season defeating Minnesota 75-62 in convincing fashion on Sunday night and finished conference play 7-13, tied for 10th in the standings. Pete Nance stuffed the stat sheet on senior night, posting 19 points, 13 boards and three blocks. He became the 38th player in program history to score 1,000 career points on a layup with two minutes to play in the game.

The Cats held a 20-point lead at halftime, the second-largest of conference play by any team this season. NU's 24-point edge at Nebraska on Feb. 5 is the largest of the year.

Robbie Beran recorded 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting and a 3-of-4 mark from downtown. He made all of his threes in the first half and scored nine points in a six minute span.

Nance became the first Wildcat since Vic Law (2018-19) to earn All-Big Ten Honorable Mention recognition. The forward is averaging 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. He is one of two players in the league averaging 14+ points, 6+ rebounds and 2.5+ assists per game (E.J. Liddell, Ohio State).

NU leads the all-time series against Nebraska, 11-9, and have won the last five games and nine of the last 11 meetings. The Wildcats swept the regular season series from the Cornhuskers 87-63 and 77-65. The last time Northwestern went 3-0 against a single opponent in the same season was 2016-17 against Rutgers. The Wildcats are trying to snap a five-game losing skid in the Big Ten Tournament. This is the first postseason meeting between the two teams.

Nebraska (10-21, 4-16 B1G) won three games in a row, including two against ranked opponents on the road (Ohio State and Wisconsin) to close out its regular season and earn the No. 13 seed. Bryce McGowens leads the team averaging 17.2 points per game and earned All-Big Ten third team honors.

The winner of Northwestern and Nebraska will face No. 5 seed Iowa in the second round on Thursday, March 10.
