Nance Scores 1,000th Career Point, Lifts Wildcats to Senior Day Win

EVANSTON, Ill. – Senior Pete Nance scored his 1,000th career point and Northwestern defeated Minnesota, 75-62, on Senior Day on Sunday evening at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Chris Collins moved to 8-8 in his career against Minnesota, securing their first win against the Golden Gophers at WRA since Feb. 4, 2016.
The Wildcats got off to a roaring start behind their seniors who scored the first nine Northwestern points, with Ryan Greer scoring four of the first six Wildcat points. Behind 10-0 and 8-0 runs in the first half, Northwestern got out to a 29-9 lead, including a stretch where they scored on seven consecutive possessions.
Nance led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds and scored his 1,000th career point late in the second half. Nance became the 38th player in program history to achieve the milestone. The Akron, Ohio native started out on fire, connecting on his first three threes en route to 13 first-half points. He also added three assists and a team-high three rebounds.
Robbie Beran scored 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field while grabbing seven rebounds. Beran was also red-hot in the first half, converting his first three threes and fueled a personal 6-0 run in a 29 second span. Beran's seven rebounds tied a season-high.
Boo Buie chipped in with 10 points alongside a team-high eight assists and two steals. Buie tied a season-high against conference opponents with his eight helpers.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will head to the Big Ten Tournament with a win on Senior Day for the third consecutive season. The Wildcats will take the court in Indianapolis this Wednesday at 5 pm C.T. against Nebraska on BTN.
