EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern visits Penn State on Sunday at the Bryce Jordan Center for a 1 p.m. CT tip-off on B1G+ and WNUR Sports.

The 'Cats are closing a four-day road trp after visiting West Lafayette on Friday. The 'Cats banked an 80-67 win over Purdue to snap a four-game skid and start February with a win. The 'Cats play six out of eight on the road this month.

NU scored a season-high 80 points against the Boilermakers, the most in a game since Jan. of 2021. The 'Cats made 23 free throws and outrebounded the hosts 41-27 for their best rebound margin in a game this season.

The 'Cats defense and rebounding has seen a boost from the recent form of senior forward Courtney Shaw, who is averaging 10 rebounds per game, the third most in the Big Ten. She has recorded four straight games with double-digit rebounds and is one of four players in the conference to average a steal and a block per game.

Senior guard Veronica Burton turned in another classic on Friday, with 26 points on a 9-14 clip with six rebounds, six steals and three assists. She now leads the Big Ten and ranks top-ten nationally in steals per game and assist-to-turnover ratio.

Junior guard Laya Hartman has provided a shot of energy to the team in the stretch run, scoring in double digits in four of her last five games and all three of her starts the last three outings. She added 13 and a career-high two steals on Friday.

The 'Cats are looking to avenge their loss to the Lady Lions on Jan. 20 in a 63-59 nailbiter in Evanston. One of the crucial factors  in the defeat was free throw shooting, as Penn State went 14-14 from the line while NU went just 5-11.

Northwestern has been successful in its last two trips to the Bryce Jordan Center, winning in 2021 and 2020. Last year, Burton keyed the 'Cats to a 67-50 win with 19 points, five steals and four assists.
