Wildcats Win Second Straight in Road Rout of Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – Northwestern won in dominating fashion to earn its second straight conference win by defeating Nebraska 87-63 inside Pinnacle Bank Arena. The 24-point win is the Wildcats second largest road Big Ten win since 1950.The 'Cats improved to 11-10 (4-8 B1G) on the season.
Chris Collins moved to 8-2 in his career against Nebraska, tallying his most wins over a single opponent in his tenure as Northwestern's head coach.
The Wildcats dominated from the tip, scoring 49 points in the first half, their highest total in the first half since Dec. 5, 2020, against Chicago State (51 points). The last time the Wildcats posted at least 49 points in the first half against a conference opponent was on Feb. 17, 2018 against Michigan State (49). The Wildcats couldn't miss as they connected on nine consecutive field goals over a 5:33 stretch in the second half, including five threes in that stretch.
Boo Buie led the way for Northwestern with a season and game-high 27 points behind 10-of-15 shooting from the field and a career-high six threes. Buie was red-hot from the field all day, even fueling two personal 6-0 runs, one in the first half and the other to open the scoring for the Wildcats in the second half.
Chase Audige chipped in with 16 points, including 11 second-half points, four rebounds, and two steals. Audige now leads all Big Ten players with 22 steals against conference opponents.
Ryan Greer led the team in assists for the eighth time in his career, finishing with four assists. Greer also scored seven consecutive Wildcat points midway through the first half to help the Wildcats extend their lead to 13 points.
Robbie Beran grabbed a team-high tying six rebounds and led the team with four steals. Beran's four steals are the second highest output for him in the category in his career and the most he has had against a Big Ten opponent.
The 'Cats look to keep their momentum rolling on Tuesday as they return to Evanston to take on Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT, with coverage live on Big Ten Network.
