EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern closes out the Big Ten regular season at Nebraska on Sunday for the Huskers' Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. CT on Big Ten Network and WNUR Sports.
It is the 'Cats sixth road game in February.
The 'Cats were listed as Charlie Creme's last team in the field of 68 for the NCAA Tournament in his latest Bracketology on Friday. While their NET is 64, a Q1 win at Nebraska (NET: 21) would go a long way for their postseason hopes.
A win would allow Northwestern to surpass Nebraska in the Big Ten standings and get to sixth place ahead of the conference tournament in Indianapolis next week.
The 'Cats are coming off a memorable 68-51 Senior Night win on Thursday to complete their season sweep of Purdue. Graduate Lauryn Satterwhite put up a career-high 20-points on 8-12 shooting in her last game at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Senior Courtney Shaw also turned in a strong effort with her second straight double-double of 10 and 14, tying her career-high in rebounds. She also put up six steals, a career-high, and three blocks.
Senior guard Veronica Burton has continued her stellar point guard play. She leads the country in steals with 4.1 and ranks fifth nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio with a mark of 3.20. She ranks third in the country in win shares.
She has already claimed the third most steals in Big Ten history, and she is now three steals away from her first season on the Big Ten single-season steals leaderboard.
The Huskers swept the 'Cats last season, including a buzzer-beater 65-63 win in Lincoln on New Year's Eve. The 'Cats last won in 2020, a 60-56 win featuring a Lindsey Pulliam go-ahead basket with under 30 seconds to play.
