EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern prepares to face a cross-town rival on Saturday as they take on the DePaul Blue Demons at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Tip off in the Battle of Chicago is set for 2 p.m.
Saturday's game will be the Wildcats' first at home in nearly two weeks. They've played each of their last two on the road, taking on Duke at Cameron Indoor Arena last Thursday before opening their Big Ten schedule against Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday.
Though they dropped both games on the road, the 'Cats got a couple stand-out performances. Sydney Wood logged her first career double-double in Durham with 11 points and ten rebounds before adding ten more points against the Wolverines. She has now scored in double digits in five straight games, bringing her season average to 11.3 points per game.
Jillian Brown also notched one of her best performances of the season in Michigan, scoring 17 points on top of three assists and four steals. That point total, which led the team, tied her season high and fell just one shy of her career mark.
Northwestern (4-4) will face a 6-3 DePaul team. The Blue Demons' defense has been their best asset so far this season, and they head into Saturday's contest ranked first in the Big East in both steals and turnovers forced per game (10.7, 19.0). They enter the day with a 22-15 edge in the all-time series against Northwestern after winning each of the last six contests.
Following Saturday's action, the 'Cats will head downtown on Thursday to play another local rival at UIC. Tip-off at Credit Union 1 Arena is set for 7 p.m.
