EVANSTON, Ill. – The Wildcats will return to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday to take on Air Force in their second-to-last non-conference matchup of the season. Tip-off between the 'Cats and the Falcons is set for 6 p.m.
Northwestern (5-5, 0-1) is coming off of their first road victory of the season after defeating UIC 66-62 on Wednesday. The 'Cats have now played to a 5-4 non-conference record so far, including a 5-2 mark at home.
The win at UIC came in part due to big contributions from Caileigh Walsh, who notched her first career double-double against the Flames. Walsh's 18 points were her second-most this season, while her 11 rebounds were a career high. She'll enter Saturday's game as Northwestern's leading scorer after averaging 13.4 points per game so far this season.
Paige Mott has also been a force on the floor for the 'Cats. Over her last four games, Mott is averaging 10.5 points and 7.25 rebounds per contest. She has paced the team in rebounds in four of their last five games and leads the roster in field goal percentage after shooting 54.4 percent from the floor.
The Wildcats will face off with the Air Force Falcons (5-5, 0-0) for the first time in program history on Saturday. It will be just the second all-time meeting with a military academy for the program and their first since 1978, when they beat West Point in the Princeton Tournament.
After Saturday's game, the 'Cats will wrap up their non-conference schedule at home against Chicago State next Thursday before diving into Big Ten play after the holiday.
