'Cats Punch NCAA Tournament Ticket for First Time Since 2018

EVANSTON, Ill. –– For the first time since 2018, Northwestern women's soccer will play in the NCAA Tournament, as announced on Monday's NCAA Selection Show. The appearance is the seventh in program history and fifth since 2015.
The Wildcats finished the regular season 13-3-2, setting numerous program records in the process. NU rattled off 13 consecutive games unbeaten, the most in program history. Northwestern also climbed all the way to No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, the highest ranking ever achieved by the program. The 'Cats' seven Big Ten wins also ties a program-record, set in 2016 and 2017.
In six prior NCAA Tournament appearances, the Wildcats hold a 6-6 record, advancing to the Sweet 16 in both 1998 and 2016. The 'Cats have won at least one game in four of their six appearances.
The winner of Saturday's matchup at Martin Stadium will advance to the second round to face the winner of 5-seed Clemson and Vanderbilt on Friday, November 18 at a campus site to be determined.
The 4-seed Wildcats will take on SIUE this Saturday, November 12 at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium. The Cougars received a bid by virtue of their Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship. Saturday's matchup will mark the third time in program history that Northwestern has hosted an NCAA Tournament game on the shores of Lake Michigan.????'???? ????????. ????
