DEKALB, Ill. –– Northwestern Men's Soccer (1-6-4, 0-3-2 B1G) will take a break from Big Ten play to head to DeKalb, where it will take on the Northern Illinois Huskies (4-4-4, 1-2-1 MAC). Wednesday's non-conference matchup takes place at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on NIU All-Access ($).
Last time out, the Wildcats took a point from a hard-fought matchup with No. 8 Maryland. Northwestern opened the scoring in the 61st minute when Christopher Thaggard found a loose ball in front of the net and made no mistake to tally his first career goal and give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead.
The Terrapins responded in the 74th minute when Stefan Copetti's head connected on a cross to equalize. Both teams traded chances for the remainder of the contest but neither team was able to find the winner. The match was the second straight draw against a ranked opponent for the Wildcats, after NU earned a point against then-No. 20 Penn State. How about that for your first career collegiate goal?! pic.twitter.com/3vQsTs9rZ4
