1/9/2022 7:20:00 PM | Men's Basketball
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Northwestern fell to No. 13 Ohio State, 95-87, after a tightly contested battle in Columbus.
The 'Cats fell into a 15-point hole early in the first half thanks to five quick threes from E.J. Liddell but managed to claw back and hang with Ohio State all game.
Northwestern mounted an 8-0 run early in the second half to cut Ohio State's lead to four, but could not manage to grab the lead.
The Wildcats' 87-point performance is their highest total against a Big Ten opponent since scoring 89 against Iowa on January 15, 2017. It is also the most point given up by Ohio State this season.
Sophomore Ty Berry led the way for Northwestern, scoring a career-high 23 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting, while tying a career-high with six rebounds. Pete Nance and Chase Audige each chipped in 20 points as well.
Audige, Berry and Nance are the first Wildcat trio with 20+ points each in the same game since Vic Law, Ryan Taylor, and AJ Turner did so against La Salle on Nov. 23, 2018. They are also the first to do so in a conference game in the Chris Collins era (2013-present).
The Wildcats look to get back on track as they return to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Wednesday to take on Maryland at 8 p.m. CT.
