EVANSTON, ILL. – Northwestern comes off its first signature win of the season with a home tilt against Ohio State on Sunday. Tip off against the Buckeyes, receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll, is set for 2 p.m. CT at Welsh-Ryan Arena on B1G+.
The 'Cats knocked off No. 22 Iowa on the road, 77-69, on Thursday for their first ranked win of the season. It was Northwestern's third straight win against Iowa and sixth win in a row.
Senior guard Veronica Burton outdueled sophomore star Caitlin Clark in the win and finished with 25 points, eight steals, tied for a career-high, six rebounds and six assists.
On the whole, the 'Cats dominated Iowa on the glass with a 42-31 rebounding advantage, and limited the Hawkeyes to just 23% shooting from deep on 26 attempts.
First-year guard Melannie Daley broke through with a 22-point outing coming on a 9-16 clip from the field.
The Wildcats wore their Gothics in Iowa City and will wear them again at home against the Buckeyes. The last home game with fans that the 'Cats wore the uniforms in was the 2019 win over then-No. 23 Maryland.
The 'Cats are 7-0 this season at home.
Northwestern has won two straight matchups against the Buckeyes, winning in Columbus in 2020 and in Evanston in 2021, a 69-57 win against a then-No. 11 OSU.
In that game, Burton put together a near triple-double with 20 points, 15 rebounds, nine assists, along with four steals. Sophomore Anna Morris scored nine points in the contest as well.
