
'Cats Host No. 24 Illinois for Weekend Rivalry Game

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern hosts No. 24 Illinois at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday in an in-state rivalry game. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m. CT with live coverage on Big Ten Network.
This is Northwestern's fourth game against a ranked opponent in its past five contests.
Northwestern and Illinois are squaring off for the 185th time in the programs' histories. The 'Cats last victory over Illinois was a 68-66 nail-biter at Welsh-Ryan Arena in 2019, with A.J. Turner hitting a go-ahead three with 11 seconds remaining.
The 'Cats last home win against a ranked Illinois squad came in Jan. 2014 in Chris Collins's debut season as Northwestern's head coach.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats fell to Michigan, 72-70, in a back-and-forth battle at the Crysler Center. Pete Nance contributed team-highs with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Boo Buie, Robbie Beran, and Ryan Young all reached double figures.
