EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Sullivan-Ubben men's basketball head coach Chris Collins has announced the signing of Class of 2022 high school prospect Nick Martinelli.

"Nick is a perfect fit for us and is a flat out winner, who had an incredible career at nearby Glenbrook South High School. He's gotten better every year and has great upside. Nick is a versatile player with size that can play multiple positions on the court, and he will immediately bring a high level of competitiveness and toughness to our team."

Martinelli is a local product that scored 1,331 career points at Glenbrook South in Glenview, Ill. The 6-foot-7, 200 pound wing averaged 22.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a senior, and led the Titans to a 33-3 record. Martinelli was a first-team Class 4A all-state selection by both the Associated Press and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. According to 247Sports, he is the No. 7 ranked player in the state of Illinois, and a three-star prospect. Averaging 21.8 points and 5.9 rebounds as a junior, Martinelli earned all-state and all-league accolades.

Nick's older brothers both played college basketball. Dom played his freshman season (2020-21) at Northwestern as a preferred walk-on before transferring to St. Thomas. His eldest brother Jimmy, was a four-year starter at NYU from 2016-20.
