ROSEMONT, Ill. – Northwestern lacrosse junior Erin Coykendall has been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. She shared the award with Maryland's Aurora Cordingley.
Â
Coykendall tallied a game-high nine points (4g, 5a) in No.5 Northwestern's 16-12 victory over No. 6 Stony Brook last Thursday. She posted a season-high five assists and also tallied two ground balls. Her nine points are tied for the third most by any Big Ten player this season.
The junior was part of a Wildcat offense that scored 16 goals, the most Stony Brook has allowed since May 12, 2019, when they fell to Maryland, 17-8, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Northwestern has won back-to-back Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week awards after Lauren Gilbert earned the recognition last week.
Â
The Wildcats open Big Ten play this weekend as they welcome Ohio State to Ryan Fieldhouse at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19.
