EVANSTON, Ill. -Â The Northwestern men's basketball team looks to win its third straight game as it hosts Indiana at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, inside Welsh-Ryan Arena on Big Ten Network. Dave Revsine (play-by-play) and Len Elmore (analyst) will have the television call while Dave Eanet (play-by-play) and Billy McKinney (analyst) will call the action on AM 720 WGN Radio.
Â
Last Saturday, the Wildcats (11-10, 4-8 B1G) rolled to an 87-63 win at Nebraska, with Boo Buie leading the team in scoring for the second straight game by dropping 27 points. Additionally, he drilled a career-best six threes and recorded three assists and two steals. Last week, in wins against Nebraska and Rutgers, Buie averaged 22.5 points per game.
Â
Chase Audige contributed 16 points, pumping in 11 in the second half, and tallied two steals. The junior is third in the Big Ten in conference-only games averaging 1.86 steals per game.
Â
The squad hit a season-high 13 3-pointers, the program's most since connecting on 13 on Feb. 25, 2018, against Iowa. After jumping out to a 49-27 halftime advantage, the Cats ballooned their lead to a game-high 35 points at the last media timeout. The 24-point win was NU's second-largest margin of victory in a conference road game since 1950 (25 – 1/9/16 at Minnesota).
Â
Pete Nance (15.6) and Buie (15.3) are one of only three duos in the Big Ten averaging 15+ points per game. Nance also leads the team pulling down 6.8 boards per game. He is the only high-major player averaging over 15.0 points and 1.0+ blocks per game while shooting 40% from three. Nance is 11th in the conference in scoring and fifth in blocked shots.
Â
Tuesday's tilt serves as the 174th all-time meeting between the two schools, with Indiana holding a 120-53 advantage. Since taking over the program in 2013-14, head coach Chris Collins is 5-8 against the Hoosiers and 3-2 at home. Northwestern split the pair of meetings last season, winning 74-67 in Bloomington on Dec. 23, 2020. Audige was NU's leading scorer in both games, averaging 18.0 points per game versus Indiana in 2020-21.
Â
The Hoosiers (16-6, 7-5 B1G) dropped their last game to Illinois 74-57 last Saturday at home. Trayce Jackson-Davis leads Indiana in scoring (17.7 ppg) and rebounding (8.4 rpg) and set an Assembly Hall single-game scoring record by posting 43 points against Marshall earlier this season.
Â
Northwestern is back on the road at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13 at Illinois. The game will air on Big Ten Network.
